Green Statement

Our Mission

Everywhere we go these days we hear lots of talk about “going green” and all the ways individuals, companies, and organizations are taking responsibility for the resources we all share. Though it sometimes seems like all this “green” talk is just evidence of the latest trend, at M. Middleton we recognize that our impact in the global environment isn’t a trend but is the result of lots of small choices we make every day. Each choice we make offers an opportunity to listen to our customers, make something beautiful, and help people reach out to one another. The great news is that while we’re making all those choices, we can also choose to make sure that the resources we depend on are taken care of and not wasted or destroyed. We’re never going to compromise on safety, quality, or outstanding design, and no one can afford to compromise on the future of our natural resources, so we’re always looking for ways to help our customers Share Life’s Celebrations more responsibly.

Paper

All of our invitations and thank you notes are printed on Domtar’s EarthChoice paper, and a substantial contribution is made to the World Wildlife Fund from the sale of EarthChoice paper. This high-quality product is Rainforest Alliance and Forest Stewardship Council certified, contains 10% post-consumer recycled content, and is elemental chlorine free (ECF). Our designer papers are Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified.

Ink

Our printer uses EcoSmart certified inks from Braden Sutphin Ink Company. EcoSmart certification ensures that the ink meets the following standards:

contains no more than 5% Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) based on Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Test Method 24, or as calculated from accumulated data on the ingredients contained in the product;
contains a minimum of 45% of renewable resource content as calculated from accumulated data on the ingredients contained in the product;
contains no more than 5% by weight of petroleum distillates;
meets Council of Northeast Governors Coalition (CONEG) regulation for packaging, with a combined heavy metal total of less than 100 ppm of mercury, lead, cadmium and hexavalent chromium.

Envelopes

We buy our envelopes from National Envelope, which is FSC Certified, SFI Certified, uses wind power, and are members of the Chlorine-Free Products Association. The paper used to make our envelopes has 10-30% PCW and is 100% recyclable.

Packaging

Our laser paper and fill-in invitations are packaged in 100% recyclable plastic bags that are composed primarily of carbon and hydrogen. They contain no heavy metals or other environmentally hazardous substances.

Foil

Our hot stamped materials are recyclable and biodegradable and compatible with the de-inking process used in recycling.
